Interview: Filip Marković, SEE CAO Business Development Manager for Energetika.net

5th of January, 2021

Mr Filip Markovic, Business Development Manager at SEE CAO, spoke on the latest SEE CAO developments for Energetika.net.

While earlier projections predicted that the Montenegro-Italy undersea power cable would only operate in one direction (from Montenegro to Italy), or that the direction would be seasonal (from Italy to Montenegro during summer months), the first year of operation has shown that power has been flowing from Italy to Montenegro for a significant part of the time, said Filip Marković, Business Development Manager at the South East European Coordinated Auction Office (SEE CAO). This power cable has had a great impact on regional power flows. Meanwhile, the impact of the Kosovo-Albania interconnector, which entered operation at the end of 2020 (together with the SEE CAO’s first auctions for electricity transmission capacity on Kosovo’s border), is yet to be seen. Marković also announced in an interview with Energetika.NET that the SEE CAO plans to launch an upgraded Damas auction tool in the first quarter of 2021.
